I have big problems

I bought a 4 bolt main 350 the other weekend rebuilt it and go it all back together with the intent to put it in my 87. Some one told me that you can bolt the EFI intake off the 305 i have and bolt it onto a normal 350 head. But i was quick to relize that the bolt patters were not the same so the EFI intake will not go onto my 350 motor. does anybody no of anyway to fun a carborator in teh 87 truck that is wired for throttlebody. Or of anjy adapter kits that i can buy. Any advice would be greatly apreciated ... thanks nick

Re: i have big problems

ok so you wnat ur 350 to have the tbi that the 305 has correct or the 350 to be caberated but cant get the intake to fit right casue of the center bolts.

if the 305 was throotle bodied (aka tbi) you will need the heads from the 305 they are catty cornered in the center they do have 350 one like i have from a 1989 jimmy. if you want 350 head you will need them from 1987-1992 350 that had the tbi but it might go to 95 cause my suburban had it like that to.

If you dont want to change the heads and just need an intake to make it carberated go to autozone they always have a 350 intake from edelbrock sitting around.

Re: i have big problems

I'd consider re-using the smaller chamber 305 heads. It's worth going out of your way to retain the EFI and higher compression can't be a bad thing.

Re: I have big problems

You can also slot the 4 center holes in the TBI intake to let it fit the older heads. I did this with an early TPI intake a few years ago using a large round file. Took maybe 30 minutes.

Re: I have big problems

I bet if you contacted the major intake manufacturers they would have an intake to go either way; carbed on a TBI engine or TBI adapter for an older style head.
I also seem to remember a TBI adapter plate for a stock spread-bore manifold?

Ditto.

Either that or run a Edelbrock Performer 2101 intake with this adapter http://www.holley.com/17-45.asp or one like it.

Re: I have big problems

Just elongate the center 4 holes and use the heads you currently have.

BTW using 305 heads will RAISE the compression, but the valve and ports are SMALL.
