Quick LED taillight question

I see some people mentioning using a new flasher with the LED taillights...I assume that the flasher is needed to keep the flash rate the same? Or is there some other reason?

I'm using the flasher that's in the truck with no problems...the rate is identical or close to it, as far as I can tell...

Are you using our LED inserts? Or LED 1157. Are they from Joel or me? If they are from Joel I'm allmost positive he used a slightly different diode set-up that should allow you to use the regular 552 flasher. Let me know what LEDs your running.

I've got the PCB-setups from Joel...that's cool, that they're set up for the original flasher. I love these things.

I'm glad you like the inserts. You have any pictures to post? It's hard to get good pictures of the light the tail insert give off at night but possible.

Ah Reumster not that hard to get a pic of them. The pictures on left are of taillights in on position, the pics on the right are with brake applied. The top 2 sets are with clear lenses and the 168 LED taillight inserts we carry. The 3rd pair of pics from top is stock red lenses with stock 1157 clear bulbs, and the bttom pair are stock red lenses with the 168 LED taillight inserts installed.

You will find the clear taillights and inserts on the following page of our site.

I'll try to get some once I get new lenses on the truck...I've got 32 year old originals, it really deserves a new set, and besides, I figure my parts guy might want to take a look.

Thumbs up GMC Paul

Man Paul them are some great picture comparisions! I like the way you did that! In your opinion how do you compare our inserts to standard bulbs, or regular 1157 LED bulb replacements?

As most of you notice the regular bulbs tend to only light the upper half of the lense. Our boards cover the entire lense illuminating it fully.

Thanks for the great pictures Paul.

COMPARING DIFFERENCES

Maybe I'm confused but pics 1,2 & 4 look real similar and pics 3 seem a little brighter (aren't these the stock setup?)

Other pics I've seen show led's a much brighter. Are the ones GMCPAUL sells the same as ruemsters?

clr 1 and clr 2 are 168 LED panels, with clear lenses from 2 different manufacturers of clear lenses.

red 1 is the stock clear bulbs and stock red lenses.

4 is the LED with stock red lenses.
Sorry I didn't label them or set the lay up as well as I could have. Just wanted to make a pic of them all together So you can really see a difference between stock and LED, with the LEDs behind clear or red lenses. I like the LED's behind stock red lenses.

You can see the factory RED 1, and red 1a don't give off a uniform light output, the upper half is bright, but the lower half isn't. Our LED inserts give off a uniform light output giving more even light output.

The inserts Joel has are slightly different from my hand made ones. Not to noticible in light though. Just made a little different.

The only problem is, pictures don't really do them justice...once you see them in action, though, you'll know.

This is true. Once everyone has seen these inserts up close and in person doubt goes out the window quick! They really are something else.
