Does anyone know if there is anyone making bolt in replacement condensors for 73-80 trucks that is designed to work with R134a ? I really want to change my condensor and do not want to use the old coil type . I would prefer a new style cond. If not has anyone installed a later model unit and if so what did it come from ? Pics would also help . Frank

are u talking aboutthe long one or the smaller on my hevelle has the long ont that about the size of the engine head. and the other is about the size of a pie pan.

and then there is this one but i dont have any eperance with

Srubydo1986 that's the compressor I believe he's talking about No. 1 on this lmc page. In answer to your question - I don't think so, when I went to APAC here in phoenix, this is a air conditioning parts store, they made no mention of a updated condensor when I told them that I was changing over to r134.

I just did the r134 conversion and checked into this.....nobody makes a new style condenser for our trucks. There's so much space up there though, I imagine a condenser from just about anything would fit ok.....it would just take some custom lines to make it work.

I looked and looked for a bolt in parallel flow condenser with no luck. All I was able to find is a universal one. I bought this 19.5x30.5 condenser from ACKITS.com

click on the pic

It should be easily adaptable to the stock lines with a couple short hoses. on my truck, I am replacing the GM compressor with a Sanden and will have custom hoses made.

I forgot to mention that if you do switch to a condenser of this style, be sure to put an in-line filter in the line between the compressor and the condenser. These pf condensers cannot be flushed effectively if the compessor fails and pukes debri.

Been told im nuts to bring it back from the dead (still going to happen) plans-all stock with a turbo 292 inline 3 speed column shift. and thats it big block 427 and 5 speed trans and ford 9 inch theyhave no home yet thinking what to put them in and a 79 c60 trash truck um no idea i have one
