Rust pics, YAY!

Here are some pics of my rust, and a pic of what parts i would need to order.
Here is the diagram.

Here is a pic of the rocker rust. Those two circled spots are all the way through. The other two pictures are what it looks like from the bottom. What numbers on that diagram do i have to order for those parts??? Those wholes are DIRECTLY below the circled pictures.

Don't be ashamed of your rust. It's a badge of honor.

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

Here's what I would use, this and an outer rocker. You wouldn't have to use the whole thing if you don't need to.

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

Looks like that will take care of the areas of the floor and inner rocker that need to be replaced, but you'll also need to get an outer rocker. How are the cab supports ??? ( #'s 12,13,14 & 15 )

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

You don't need 8 or 11. you need 4 lh & rh and 9 lh & rh. Item 4 will include 8 & 11 stamped in.

Or you can skip item 4 and use items 2 & 3 both lh & rh. This is what we used to do before item 4 was available (you'll do a little more cutting and welding, but you will spend about $100.00 less) This is the way I have always done it. Wait a minute! I just checked the link custom/10 posted. THAT'S what I would get, same part as LMC at a much better price.
Good luck, Rg

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

Sorry, I thought you had problems on both sides. Looks like you have an easy fix.

I think I might consider buying the outer rocker only and cutting out the bad sections of the inner. You could take the cut out section to a sheet metal shop (hvac guys usually can do it too) and have them bend up some pieces to weld in. Might save some $

Good luck, Rg

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

I didn't even notice part #4 in the LMC picture, that's the same as the piece in the link that I sent. But the one from Tri-Pro is $40 less !!!

Call up GMC Pauls and get them there. They will get you the correct items and they will talk to you and make sure you get the correct pieces. Plus they will be cheaper.

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

You should be golden, you can use the whole thing or just cut out the bad area and trim the new piece to fit. You'll know better how much of the piece you'll need once you get the outer rocker off. Get yourself a spotweld drill that will make removing the outer rocker easier.

It's a glitch we're trying to work out with the host of our storefront...I'll go get your tracking number. It shipped out immediately; and we appreciate the business

Re: Rust pics, YAY!

I'm not trying to cut anyone out of any buinesess here... but you have a vendor just a few miles from you in Olimpia... Wes at Classic heart beat. He is a board supporter, and has a very good rep.
Two of the other vendors mentioned here are also outstanding vendors, also supporters of the site... but LMC totally sucks, I wouldn't spend a dime there unless they were the ONLY way to get rolling.
