Bilstine shocks road test

Just finished with some more testing on my new set of Bilstine shocks. These shocks put the real meaning of "seat of the pants" testing, because that is where you notice the most changes in the seat of your pants. I went to visit some folks on Friday and they live on a dirt road that is private and about 3/4 mile long and not maintained very well the rear shocks wer the Nitro for a 4"lowered 78 and the fronts were Bilstine. the ride was slow and very chopy. On Sunday we went back up to return some tools and the same road that was the most noticable, and the ride was much easier on my back and the seat cushion felt like it had been replaced. The 60 mile highway trip to get to his place was much more smother also. I have been driving this truck (Big 10) for 20+ years and have had many different brands of shocks and these are by far the most noticable and much more confortable

Those are a little pricey. But when I rebuild my front end I will be adding those shocks. They are pretty nice just wondering if the cost will be worth it.

Consider the ride, firm, smooth, and not harsh I thought a little over 300.00 was a very good price for a much better driving vehicle.

Real world info. Thanks for sharing. What are the Bilstein #'s that you used & is your truck stock height or lowered?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

......O K, here are the part numbers for a stock non-lowered 73-87 P/U
Front B46-0933
Rear B46-1185

For a lowered front with SPINDLES use the
B46-0933
Rears B46-2067
The rears will have to be re-valved and they will do that for you but there is a small charge (15.00) and you can get these from
Hot Rods and Custom Stuff ask for Mike in parts
parts@hotrodscustomstuff.com
Mike has been working with me to get these Bilsteins for lowered Chevys and I am glad I waited for them to make them for me. You can have a lowered truck with a great ride with Bilsteins.
They have a 800 number lookup there site (400 pics) they do some wild customs Cherry Bomb!!
