Since it is a 71 I'll assume you have a Double wall top, hence no top lights,
other than the under dash courtesy lights available that's it, unless you try
to rig something up. A Board Vendor can get you those underdash units

Re: Interior Light 1st gen K5 Blazer

You must have a "double wall" top ~ see the K5 came with two types and the "single" wall has the light were the double does not...no clue why GM did that?
Maybe some one can explain it better....

IIRC, Single walls did not even come out till 72, that is why most don't have the lights

Not to change the subject, but where can I find a new wiring harness for the single wall plug for the lights?

Re: Interior Light 1st gen K5 Blazer

You can get at least the lower dash lights by just installing the wiring/bulbs and jamb switches.

If you can't find a vendor selling the package, send me a pm and I'll hook ya up.

Re: Interior Light 1st gen K5 Blazer

The under dash courtesy come up on eBay now and again. I never really noticed what they go for since my '72 already has them. When I had my '70 though I looked at putting the Sylvania DOT LED lights on the roof and using it as a dome light. The nice thing is that they are battery powered and require no wiring. They attach with double sided tape and do not look bad either. They cost $10, so price is right too. I still may get one for my roll cage when I put it in. Here is the link to them.

Re: Interior Light 1st gen K5 Blazer

My truck came with the 2 underdash lights, but only one functioned and the drivers door switch didn't work. Once I got new bulbs and a new switch, the light that comes from them is pretty good.

As a baseline for price lmctruck sells a kit part number 36-3615 for $59.95

Re: Interior Light 1st gen K5 Blazer

MY 72 DOESN'T HAVE THEM BUT i WAS CONSIDERING PUTING A LATE MODEL
GM REARVIEW MIRROR W/LIGHTS. sEEMS LIKE A SIMPLE RUN THE WIRES AND ADD DOOR SWITCHS IF YOU WANT. i WAS TOLD THAT THE UNDERDASH LIGHTS WERE NOT BLAZER SPECIFIC AND THAT ANY GM UNDERDASH LIGHTS FROM 70'S AND 80'S GM WOUL;D WORK. JUNKYARDS ARE A FRIENDLY PLACE.

i've got the sylvania lights in my truck now.
i'm impressed, they do actually put off some light.
seems you need at least 2 to put out enough light.

i put one on the top window frame above the rear view mirror.
interestingly enough, there are 3 holes there in that location.
is that for a light? if so, where do i get that?
