Water leak help please

After it rains there is a puddle on the drivers side floor. The location is in picture 1. I don't think it if the windshield because there is no evidence of moisture on top of the dash. The other two pictures are of the drivers side under the cowl. One of these shows where there is crack in the seam sealer. How do i figure this out?

Seal over that crack. You might check your vent and box area, rain will run down and if you have debris clogging the drain hole, it may be coming in there.

very common on these trucks is the sealer in the rain gutters dry out allowing rain to travel down the inside of windshield posts // also the inside of kick panels fill with debris over the years and clog drains at bottom of the body

I agree with Cdowns. Check the rain gutter area closely. Cracked sealant will leave water under there to rust at it's leisure without you seeing it.

From there it goes inside the top of the cab area to cause more damage. All unseen for years like a cancer. I wish vendors would make more sheetmetal panels for this problem. I see it on almost all of the trucks in this area and since it starts on top, it goes unnoticed.

Also check the windshield rubber seal. Make sure there isn't any openings there for water to get in.

Remove your vent in the kick panel and stick your hand down in there and remove the leaves, mouse nests, and snakes. It worked for me...

Thanks for the suggestions. The drip rails were redone last year and still look good. How is the vent held in place?

It has a pin at the top and the bottom. If I recall correctly you lift up on the vent while it is open and the bottom pin will clear it's hole, then you angle it out. I have always removed all the handles and guides first but that may not be neccesary. I know one of the pins has a spring on it... I believe it is the top one.

When sticking your hand down in the vent don’t worry about any mice, the snakes will have eaten them already.

Its funny you mention snakes....When i bought my 71 i took the seat out to ind a live rattle snake cooiled up and really pissed..killed that sob with a rachet and now i always check when pulling a seat out lol oh and for the drip rail rust this is what happens over time...if you look at the top of the pic where the drip rail meets it rusted a nice size hole...man thanks good i got rid of all that surface rust...she was looking ruff man

I sealed up the crack in the seam sealer and watered it. No leaks. (pic 1)

I also ran a ton of water down the vent passage and saw no leaks.

Then I ran water at the wiper motor shaft (pic 2). Huge leak! (pic 3) Not the leak I was looking for, but how do I deal with it?

Then I ran water on the drip rail. Several leaks even though the $10 bill slip tests seemed OK. Oh, and if you do this, close the f@#ing door first. Leaks were all on the front upper area. Can I bend the window frame inwards? Should the windows be open or closed if I try this?

You can buy the seal for wiper motor from many vendors. For drip rails, clean out the old with a wire wheel, then spend the money for a good 2 part seam sealer after getting rid of the rust!!!

Sorry, when I reread my post I realized that it was misleading. When I ran water on the drip rail, it was the door weatherstriping that leaked. It is realatively new and tight to the door. I pulled it off where it leaked and repositioned it. It was getting kinda jammed in the door when the door closed. Haven't tested it out yet.

How hard is to change the wiper motor shaft seal?

It's easy just pull wiper linkage unplug wiper motor and washer unscrew 3 screws and it comes right out!!!
