Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I place an order from brothers truckin on 9/24. I placed it by phone and they stated the package would go out asap. I email during the week and get no response or conf. tracking number. I finally decide to call today and this is how it went

Thank you for calling Brothers, there are 12 calls ahead of you.

15 mins later i get down to 1 caller ahead of me and im all excited... Well, it forwards me to a full mailbox and says hit zero to talk to an operator. I hit zero and it says
Thank you for calling brotheres, there are 10 calls ahead of you.

IM like SOB!!!. So i hold, for another 20 minutes until i get down to 1 caller ahead of me... Im getting so close.. then it says the same damn message and hit zero for an operator.. I hit zero hoping im almost home and NOOOOO WRONGGGGG... Thank you for calling brothers, there are 12 calls ahead of you.

I spent damn near 33 minutes on hold.. HALF my lunch.. JUST to find out a tracking number....

BLAH.. rant over...

I have used three main sources for my parts...Classic Heartbeat (Wes), GMC Pauls (Paul), and Christians Classic "(Tim) and not once have I have had a problem like yours. That’s the difference between a "Family" type company and a larger corporate type company. The three that I listed may not be the largest Vendors but if you need help...they are there. Wes, Tim, and Paul care about these these trucks and the people that own them. I am not saying that Brothers is a bad company…I am just saying the three that I listed always have GREAT service. IMO Hope you get your parts. Maybe someone has connections to brothers? Good Luck!!

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I ordered some stuff last month and it took almost 2 weeks to arrive. They do have some good prices since they have a sale going on but you have to be patient. Also, I didn't try to call them since I was in no hurry for the parts.

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I ordered stuff from Brothers through my body shop to fix my truck after the wreck. What a nightmare. We ended up cancelling the last few items & ordered em from LMC, got those items within 3 days. John

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

Back in "the day" I owned a Pinto (yeah, I hear you). After reading in Hot Rod and other magazines, and based on articles they had done with stuff from IECO, I ordered some stuff. One of the items I ordered was to have included jets for the carburetor, plugs, points and condenser. On the side of the box, written in grease pencil was: "We didn't find any jets in this box. We used the ones you sent us". Guess what? There were three different jets in the box. Three. The carb needed two. None were right for the carb I had. Thus began a series of phone calls. One of them was to a guy, last name of Scarborough, supposedly their sales manager. He told me to take all of the stuff that they had sent (points, plugs, jets, condenser) and send them back. The plugs had already been installed but he said that didn't matter....send them back. A couple weeks later, I get a shipment. New box. Old stuff. Spark plugs were all broken and shipped back to me. Now, I'm furious. The only excuse they could offer was that it had been raining (Los Angeles area). Big whoop.

After I let loose a tirade that included every form of every four-letter word I could think of and even some that were made up on the spot over a course of ten minutes, I felt better but was still out the parts that they screwed me out of. That one incident made me very leery of such businesses, but that was all before Al Gore invented the internet.

The people I am leery of now have merchandise listed on eBay. I'm sure there are good folks on it, but my only experience was bogus, too. Misrepresented merchandise issue. No recourse. No more business done with him, either.

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

If you're calling the customer service line maybe try calling the order line. I'm sure they want to talk to someone that might be spending more money over someone that may have a problem.

It's worked for me unless they are all on vacation and the phone mailbox is full

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I've had good luck with brothers. I did recieve one damaged item and they shipped another right out.

Does Classic Heartbeat (Wes), GMC Pauls (Paul), and Christians Classic have catalogs? I like to compair prices when I buy stuff and may use them next time. I also like good customer survice and may pay a little extra if I know i'm going to be taken care of.

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I have a Brother's catalog but have never ordered from them. I have ordered on line and also called Harmon's before and was treated well and they answered the phone promptly. Service was 2 days. I have also dealt with CCP. ECE, LMC, and Chevy Duty(can't think of their new name) and had good experiences on line and over the phone. There are a few others that I want to try also like GMC Pauls. I shop for parts and try to group my orders by what I'm doing at the time. Not all stores have all the stuff I want and that effects where I order too.

I, however, avoid dealing with stores that I have heard complaints about. There are just too many out there to deal with one I can't have complete cofidence in.

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

I have ordered from Brothers numerous times and have had mixed results - 2 or 3 times I have got the wrong or incomplete part. The last time I had a problem, they sent a box to pick up the part and they paid the shipping back - but the first two times, I ended up paying shipping (twice) to get the correct part back. I would order from them again, though I think I will be a little more forceful in getting return shipping if there's a problem - and that doesn't help then it will definitely be the last time.

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

Brothers is a top notch company and their people are good, but they can get overwhelmed at times...especially Mondays right after the weekend.
I will try not to rant too hard myself, but I never understand why guys go out-of-town to order their parts, when there are several good parts suppliers right in your area! They are stocked with lots of parts...ready to go! Go check out your locals and see what you can get right here at home. If you are not satisfied with the quality, selection or prices...then go ahead and send your money to California or other places.
You will not get any better assistance than from those right in your own back yard.
Do you know what is available here? Have you gone to any of our western Washington truck parts dealers?
Please be perfectly clear that I am not soliciting your business. I have more than I can handle, but you wouldn't have those complaints if you were dealing with one of the guys near you.
Good luck with your truck!

Re: Brothers truckin?? WTF? Anyone else?

Hey xshadow...
Does Classic Heartbeat (Wes), GMC Pauls (Paul), and Christians Classic have catalogs?
The answer is no...but...this site doesn't have a catalog either yet we spend all kinds of time on here reading and writing. Wes (Classic Heartbeat), Paul (GMCPauls),and Tim (Christians Classics) have excellent sites to to look for parts and if you want someone to talk with...no problem. Again I am sure Brothers is a good Vendor but you must have caught them on a busy day. I try to do business in my backyard (Tim is not exactly in my back yard so I do make exceptions ) Just my .000002 cents worth. Good Vendors are like a good wife...Once you find one keep them for life!! :
