anyone have any pics of shaved cowl or anyone done it? previous posts are way to old to pull any pics up, just mainly pro's cons. I am curious how anyone else done it. I am finally doing bodywork on my cab after 3 long long years and so far we have shaved dash and firewall and are starting on the cowl. If anyone has any pics, please post. Cant wait to get the Hugger Orange beast painted....

I just had a guy I know make me a patch panel. Tody he cut the vents out, but left as much of the curled lip as he could to keep its strengh. It did warp or anything. Hes planned on welding the patch in tomorrow. Will post pics when its welded.

P.S. I left the wiper holes in place.

we are all hoping that TriPro Automotive will actually start stamping them out in the near future, but we haven't heard anything for a while about it.

We cut the vents out with the cowl off the truck, but bolted it back on to weld in the patch. With the vents cut out, the cowl will twist a bunch if it's not bolted down.

wow cool, thats what i wanted to see. this is what we invisioned but wasnt real sure how it would look. good thing i have 3-4 cowls in case we messed up the first one..

is there a down side to having this done? What was the cowls purpose in the first place? To let air into the cab? Just wondering because it looks so sweet I may have to do it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but by doing this your kick panel vents no longer function

you are correct. but since we have already smoothed the firewall and taken out the heat/air system and smoothed the dash, the cowl naturally has to go. what we plan on doing is making a air induction system sort of like a cold air intake or ram air that will run from core support back to cab under hood.my buds have some good ideas on it but we will see.
