WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
I recently aquired this, and although I'd love to keep it, I have too many projects, and this body style truck isn't anything I have extra parts for. It has typical rust, but is mostly intact and is restorable. The roof seems to be in great shape, and the frame is solid. It is a rolling chassis, no motor and tranny. What do you guys think?

Re: WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
It is located in Valley, AL, about 15 miles from A***RN. I'd like to get around $1500 out of it.

Re: WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
My son acquired one in similar condition (although less dents from what I can see) about 9 months ago and paid $700 for it. Realistically you'd probably maximize your return if you parted some items out separately from the body. For example the seat frames fetch a decent sum of money on eBay.

I had my low mile, complete Ambulance with NO rust compared to yours on ebay a few weeks ago and the highest bid I got was $1850. But parts might do well, I've seen guys asking $1000 for a seat?!

Re: WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
I think that '55 Chevy with the radiused whel wells is a beter choice and could be one awesome Gasser. I'm building one now but the body on mine is too nice to make a Gasser.
Are you interested in selling yours? If so send me a PM. |

Re: WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
depends on condition.
sub without rust in CA sells for 2500-3500. add another 1,000-1500 depending on number of ORIGINAL seats. motor/trans never matters unless it is/was a 302 GMC or even a 270 GMC or 261 cheyv(never original equip) GMC seems to bring less than chevy and for your with enough rust in the atmosphere in your area to flake off the chrome bumper-i would put a value of under 1,000 even including the front set of 2 seats. Even with the low picture quality i can see tehre is SERIOUS floorboard rust showing which means theres a lot hidden. dents are about 100x easier to deal with than rust... i sold a more desireable clamshell model with more rust for 1,000 but the guy was a little nuts.. = LOL |

Re: WIW - 1948 Chevy Suburban
So C-30, you still got htis old Burb? Ever decide on a sale price? I sold one with the Clam Shell type doors a year or so ago for a grand. It was in a little better shape than yours. I think I let it go a bit cheap in retrospect. Mine had an engine but it was locked up. Overall it was a good project. I needed the space at the time. Something had to go.
