I replaced my qjet with a edelbrock performer carb today. I got everything together and have a extra vacuum hose that I do not know where it goes. The Qjet has a fitting for it but not the edelbrock. Here is a picture, can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix it, plug it?

I'd bypass that emission spark solenoid thing and run your vacuum advance to the carb without it.
There's a term for that solenoid, but I don't remember it....

I don't see anything going to the vaccum advance port on the carb. I think that would go there because I am not sure how you vac advance is hooked up right now. I agree with clay68....just go from the vac advance to the carb. Also make sure your tranny kickdown is plugged in. It doesn't have to go to the carb as long as it goes to the intake somewhere.

You could also try pluging it and then go for a test drive and if it runs funny then it needs to be hooked up somewhere. Not sure if you have a booster or not either but make sure all your vac ports and lines are plugged that aren't used.

BTW I made this conversion and I am very happy..love the better gas mileage and electronic choke...

The usual set-up is PCV 3/8 hose from PCV valve on valve cover to 3/8 PCV valve port on front center of carb. Most people use the ported vacuum advance port on the left [passenger side] front of the carb, connected to the vacuum advance canister by 1/8 hose. If you use this one, you don't need the full-time vacuum port on the right. I plug it. But it's handy for hooking a hand-held vacuum gauge up to for tune ups.

So what is the reason for this solenoid thing? I can get rid of it?

Any way to tell if I should plug into the timed vacuum advance or the full vacuum advance? Pretty sure the distributor is stock on the 350? I guess I can try which one works better.

That solenoid is for TCS. (Transmission controlled spark) You can take it off. It allows vacuum advance only when engine is up to operating temp and in high gear.

So how did you choose which performer Edelbrock carb to buy?

And which one did you buy?

I am considering this swap in my 69 GMC, but the truck has a 79 305 in it so I am unsure of which carb to buy???

1406 edelbrock performer, electric choke. runs about 280 bucks most places.

Hello IMHOLTE,

Sorry to highjack your thread. Would you have a picture of where the red wire that comes off your electric choke to the alternator? I have a 600 series elderbrock and want to hook mine up and make sure I do it right. I figured it was worth a question to ask. I printed your first picture coming off the EChoke.Thanks!!!!

I ran my red wire from the unfused ignition outlet in the fuse box. My HEI goes there too.

I dont have a picture but the edelbrock install instructions mention the red wire to ignition key activated 12V source. Mine heads towards the firewall, so I am assuming its in the fusebox.
