What did you get done? 10/07

I had a crazy week dealing with customers and all the problems that goes with it. Friday evening I loaded my 5x10 trailer with a new tool box for my buddy Keith and headed for Dallas.

We went to the Ft Worth Goodguys show and hung out with the crew from Stoked Out at their display. We got to visit with tons of forum members, and I can't remember half of them.

I saw Nathan Porter (Porterbuilt) and his crew, Carter (Blaz-air), Andy (Zumo), Tracey (Bagged 74) and....?

Pics to follow....

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

When we passed by the Stoked Out booth, you guys looked like you had a full house there. I hung out mostly in the swap meet, with my buddy that had is 70 Challenger out there. I watched the ART autocross track for a little bit. Does anyone know anything about the white 85-87 truck that was making the hot laps?

Worked some OT, yard work, baby shower, and picked up the rebuilt cylinder heads for the 'burb (painted them too).

No truck stuff to report.

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

Finally got the alternator to work. The CS130D is now able to run the ZZ4. I had to fix a fuel leak on the fuel line I bent up. The ZZ4 was tested up to normal operating temperatures. The fans kicked on and turned off properly. The fans kick on at 195 and turn off at 180. The ceramic coated headers to a good job of keeping heat out of the engine bay. Now, I'm going to sell some parts so I can buy new guages. I hope to move to Autometers. If not digitals until the interior is redone.

I went to the Goodguys show and met a few board members. Had the pleasure of hanging with N2billet and N2trux for a little while. I would also like to give a special thank you to Nathan (Porterbuilt) for delivering my dropmember to the show. I'm now motivated to work on the blazer again.

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

I drove from Louisiana to Colorado and back. I met Glock35ipsc while I was up there. On the way back hit the Goodguys show in Dallas on Sunday. It was nice to meet Keith, Ken and Carter. I noticed SCOTI's truck in the parking lot when I left, but didn't get to meet him.

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

I took a little road trip from Tennessee to Kansas to pickup a 76 parts truck from Walt's Restoration. We left at 6:30 pm Friday and got back at 6:30 pm Saturday covering 1226 miles. Met Walt early Saturday morning so we could get loaded and start home. In my rush to leave I forgot my camera so didn't get any pictures until I got home. Just collecting a few parts to build a truck or two. I'm new to the 73-87 crowd but thought it was about time to check in. Hope to hang around awhile.

The first 3 are the truck I went after. The last 2 are just some of my outdoor parts department.

Nice to see you on this section, Ron.

It was my daughter's birthday yesterday, so we didn't do much except hang around for most of the weekend.

Saturday we did interrupt our hanging around to go get tattoos. I got the kid's name, and on of my crazy sisters in law got Crazy Asian on her forearms. Ironically, she's the less crazy of the two.

Of course I didn't. That truck was the best part of the show, too. My wife really didn't understand why I thought it was so cool, either. The truck was behind gates, so you couldn't just go up and check it out.

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

I order a carpet set for the crewcab and they send me the wrong front set it was for a low tunnel, so sent it back.
Sunday I broke down and finally tapped the end of the TPI rail and plugged it to complete the rear feed setup. Then I rearranged the garage so I could get to the hard fuel lines I buried a few weeks ago.

Re: What did you get done? 10/07

I worked on my gas tank swap. I wire-brushed the tank brackets, primed them, and painted them with Duplicolor truckbed paint. Unfortunately, I think I layed the truck bed paint on too thick, because it never seemed to harden like I think it should have. A lot of it scraped off when I installed the brackets/straps on the tank.

I also cleaned up one of the brackets for the other side, and tomorrow I'll have dad weld some new nuts onto my last bracket (I could only get driver brackets, but I needed a passenger), and I'll try a different paint method. My goal isn't really to make the brackets look good, but just to prevent any additional rusting. In a couple few years I hope to take the truck apart and do a real restoration, so the name of the game for now is just preservation.

I think that truck belongs to the Air Ride guys......it's their test mule. When we finally got our trailer out of the vendors area I saw them driving the white truck behind their trailer.......they more than likely drove it all the way back to Indiana.

I didn't do anything. I left for a conference Saturday afternoon. I'm still here in Dallas. At least it is a pretty swank hotel...

Who schedules a conference on a weekend? Who schedules a conference on a weekend in a (well, I think it is....) dry county?
