Factory Tach Problems
Does anyone know where I can get my factory tach calibrated. It reads correct at idle but after that it is about 1000rpm over actual rpm. I have installed a HEI dist. would that be affecting it?

These tachs are notoriously inaccurate. There is a screw on the back where you can adjust it. HEI will have some effect, but most of them are not accurate with points either.

You can calibrate any factory tach, 6 or 8 cylinder tach with the calibration screw on the back of the tach. You will need another tach to compare to when you adjusting it.
I recalibrated my factory 6cyl tach against an aftermarket tach, on my 71 with HEI & V8. Works perfect. ------------------
