Found the tag I've been looking for!

I knew somewhere tucked away in my shop I had an old Valley Chevrolet USA-1 dealer tag. I live in Valley, AL and I know my '69 C/10 was bought new at that dealership. I was digging through some stuff this evening and I found it. I had forgotten that it had the Taking Charge slogan, which IIRC, was a slogan used in late 70's and 80's. I wish that weren't on there, but still this tag has got to be more than 20 years old because Valley Chevrolet closed in 1987. Despite the later slogan, I think I'm still going to run it on my truck since it has local history. What do ya'll think? Would you run it on a '69 model?

Re: Found the tag I've been looking for!

P.S. The tag cleaned up perfectly. The dinginess in the pic was dust and some kind of oily film.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Hey Travis! I actually think I've found several. I want 1 for myself, and Mike said he wanted one for his 4-4-2. The guy I'm getting them from said he thought he had 5-6, so if he does, I'll grab you one too. BTW, I'm using that gas tank I got from you in my '67 C-30 dually. Thanks again!

Re: Found the tag I've been looking for!

Are you needing the narrower cab and chassis rearend or the wider dually pickup rearend?

Re: Found the tag I've been looking for!

I've got the rearend that came out of my '67 1 ton. It would be the correct one for a dump truck or flatbed. It's got 5.38's, so it was definitely LOW geared. Are you needing the low rear gears or are you needing more highway friendly gears?

I guess I'm gonna have to take it off and send it to you then!
My wife and I went to cruise in last in Opelika, AL and I actually had someone ask where I got that old dealer tag. He was familiar with the old dealership.

Re: Found the tag I've been looking for!

I went to the old dealership building today and snapped a few shots. It was getting late in the evening, and they didn't turn out as good as I had hoped. Here a few, and the rest can be found on the link below.

That is way cool, I love the old dealer stuff, especially when it's the dealer that sold your truck. I've been looking for some vintage Burt Chevrolet Englewood Colorado stuff, that's where mine was sold.

Do a search for denver_diva on Ebay. She has sells dealer stuff and has several tags from Courtesy Ford and Valley Motors both from Englewood. Maybe she has something. I only know this because I found the Valley Motors dealer plate looking for Valley Chevrolet stuff. Here is one of her auctions. You may just get lucky!

Re: Found the tag I've been looking for!

I'm gonna put a dealer sticker from the chevrolet dealer in the town in Iowa I used to live in. My truck is from the southern Missouri. The dealer ship has been out of business since 1979. I know the former owners son though. He has the left over stickers. I'll put it on my truck as a tribute to his dad and just because no one else will have it. Its kind of funny though because his dad was still selling cars up until the time he died and that was 1988 so. It has been closed longer than I have been alive.
