Don't feel bad about getting them wrong. I couldn't figure them out either and went so far as to raise my bed to clear the brackets. I then got some help from here and got 'em on right.

This is how NOT to install them

Thick nuts save a lot of washers don't they.. hahaha.
I'm still concerned because the rear end of the inside brackets when looked at from the side - they are still angled "in" at the bottom - the new bumper looks like it mounts perfectly vertically - I have to pick up some bolts and then I'll see how it mounts up.

I thought the exact same thing, which is why I raised the bed and used the lower hole to "level" the brackets. They are supposed to angle down back toward the truck.
