Re: Check this out - SCAM???

people will start a bid on an item and put it up for auction themselves. what ever gets bidded on their auction; they will bid the same or under. so if the win then they have already sold it for more than they bought it. most of the times they do it on smaller items(not vehicles) but I guess they thought they could get away with it.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

the CA guy has a second listing for the same truck and on it is a paragraph stating the first guy stole his pic`s and explained the 2 different area codes on his auction phone #`s. I told him to report the stealer of pic`s auction as a scam. but the scam guy wants cash in person? weird.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

Hey guys this is Eddie. I'm the lister of the GMC in simi valley, CA. I've been watching the message board since Dave called me and have just been waiting to be allowed to post. Thanks to those of you who went out of your way to verify some of the info. To the rest of you... well I don't have much to say. It's real easy to speculate and talk crap but only one of you actually called the numbers I posted and only a couple actually e-mailed me. At any rate, I'd be glad to provide any amount of proof that the truck is mine. I have notified eBay on numerous occasions as well as the other seller and have received no responses from either. If any of you have any more questions or comments please feel free to contact me personally. Oh, and on a side note... I painted the big block blue because i felt like it. Thanks for asking.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I also contacted Ebay about it, and have got no response. I was browsing around looking at trucks and found that the same truck was listed on 2 auctions. It is unfortunate that this happened to you. We've seen a member's truck on here get listed in a scam auction also. It's a shame that someone would do something that like.I am glad someone here verified that the truck was your's, and I meant nothing personal against you posting this here. I was simply trying to protect my fellow board members from a fraudulent transaction.

Hi edster...
The speculation process has to happen in order to decide who the real seller is so we could notify you (the original seller) as to what was going on. Once you were called there was no reason to follow up with any more phone calls. I called both your numbers w/o anyone answering but once you were advised of the situation there was no more reason to call you. I don't think you would have welcomed 35,000 phone calls. I am not sure what the "talk crap" you are referring to but I think this board did a wonderful job contacting you and advising you of this situation. Not many other boards would have went the extra step to help out. I/we wish you the best in selling your truck.

That is exactly what goes on here - it's like having a bunch of big brothers keeping an eye out for you. And again, truck or no, you're welcoem to hang around.

Herb

BTW - good luck on the sale. I hope the scam doesn't muck it up for you.

There are allot of guys on here that just want to make sure no one gets scammed, including you not getting scammed. That is why Dave called you and I emailed you. I also contacted eBay about it. Good luck selling the truck….EVEN better hold on to it and stay a member on this board
I posted your reply to one of my emails on here. I hope you were okay with that...I was just trying to help clear things up

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

This scam is still in process. I cut and pasted the fake and real auction and sent to ebay. It is my guess they are sitting low ready to spring the trap. I hope.

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

I'm sorry to say that eBay sucks real bad. After everyone that contacted them about the rip-off and all the info I gave them this is all they could say...

"I have reviewed the information that you provided regarding the use of
images or text in item number 220160508779, but at this point find that
I do not have enough evidence to show that the member has violated any
eBay rules.

Regrettably, we will only be able to take action if the original text
and the copied text appears on eBay. "

What a bunch of BS!!! I did however manage to contact the guy who placed the winning bid and I think he's going to do something about it.

That's a shame! I can see why maybe they wouldn't do that if it was a generic picture of a camera or something like that, but the is using YOUR truck. That is the one and only one exactly like it. When its a unique item, it's their responsibility to end it!

EBAY sucks. Sorry that you have had to go thru this Ed. Glad you joined our board. If EBAY would just look at the pics...they would see that there is no way the trucks are different. Hell your the only person I know that paints a BB blue!! Just razzin ya!!

Re: Check this out - SCAM???

eBay's getting worse and worse! I bid on an M38A1-A (CJ6) and the reserve was never met so I contacted the seller who told me what he'd sell it to me for then soon after I got a "second chance offer to buy" that looked like a legit eBay email with exeption my actual name wasn't after my user name (on all eBay emails) for half what the seller told me so I called the guy back and he had no idea what I was talking about, I reported it to eBay and got the response that it was a fake!!! I beleive this is why they **** out the bidders names, pretty soon the scammers will figure out the real names of the users! I really wanted that thing too, if I hadn't called the guy before I got the email I may have bit and been out 1700 bucks.
