Question Iginition switch removal?

I have my cab completely stripped with the exception of the iginition switch.
How does this thing come out?

If you have a key, then it is no problem.
Insert the key.
Insert small allen wrench into the small hole on the ignition switch face.
Turn the key to Acc position, and then depress the allen wrench in, you should feel a little bit of resistance...like a small spring.
Twist the key further to the left, and it should all pop out in your hand.
Cussing helps.

Did not work for me because the key would not turn any more. what i had to do is unplug it and grab the front bezel with some vice grips and start turning. I went had for a while and cussing does help. then it poped off. Just to let you know you will need a new bezel after that it sorta of strips the threads but i got it out

I also have my cab completely tore down EXCEPT the ignition switch. I was going to ask but now I know how ! I hadn't quite damaged anything yet

If you don't have the key then you have a couple of options.

1- take one of the door lock cylinders out and take it to a locksmith & have re-keyed. It shouldn't cost more than 10 bucks if you take it to them, rather than having them come to you, and it's the same key (assuming that neither the door lock or ignition have ever been changed). Then just use the poke hole method described above.
2-Screw a slide hammer into the keyway and vent your frustrations. After the cylinder parts company with the rest of the dash, the bezel can be unscrewed and the rest of it comes out from the back. I've had to do this a couple of times even when I had the key, since sometimes the mechanism doesn't work right after 30 some years and then the poke hole method doesn't work. A new lock and key is less than 25.00 bucks
