4spd OD manual trans...got a spare shifter?!

I've got a 833 4spd manual overdrive trans that I'm putting into my '62 Suburban...actually, the trans is in it already (but needs to be rebuilt), and I've got a shifter for it too--which also very, very badly needs to be rebuilt.
Hurst has a rebuild service, but they've got a 2-month backlog. The truck can come down for a week or so while I have the trans rebuilt, but it's my daily driver.
Does anyone have a shifter for one of these transmissions?
A version of this transmission was found in Mopars, and I have one of those shifters, but the tail housing on the Chevy version is different, making the shifter bodies different, and it won't bolt up. It's an OE Chevy shifter (made by Hurst) or nothing it seems.
HELP!

Re: 4spd OD manual trans...got a spare shifter?!

sorry no shifter. but am curios about tranny, I saw a pic of 1 one time on this site. so does the overdrive give you more than a 1/1 ratio in fourth? does it help with mileage? is first granny? what did these trannies come in? my 73 has a granny 1st and I'd like more of a car like trans. Mine feels like it wants another gear in fourth and a 4/od or a five speed would be nice. sorry about all the ???'s and jumping in on your thread, but thanks. bob

Re: 4spd OD manual trans...got a spare shifter?!

The trans basically works like a car 4-speed; 1st and 2nd are about the same (3.09 First). Then they flipped the shift arm upside down, so when you move the shifter handle into what is traditionally 3rd, the arm on the trans moves to what is normally 4th gear position, or 1:1. Then, the shift handle moves into the 4th gear positon, the arm on the side of the trans moves into what is traditionally 3rd gear: the gearset has been changed to give the transmission a .72:1 ratio in this situation. Rather than running "straight thru" in 4th gear, you are running the power thru what would normally be the 3rd gear set, coming out as an overdriven final drive.
Like any overdrive trans, this helps mileage.
It doesn't have a granny 1st.

Mine needs to be rebuilt, because I can't get it into 2nd gear, but having that OD is really nice.

So, now that this is back to the top...anyone got a shifter?! Haaaaalp!
