I want to test the cab for leaks before I put the front end back together.
How do I do it? How do you seal the leaks? silicone? Where are the common areas I should look for? Cowl? Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming your cab is sealed? (doors on, windshield in?)

Start with the cowl and work your way up, otherwise if you start at the top, the leak could be anywhere.

Cowl (if it does leak, look for old antenna holes), around the windshield seal, and around the top of the cab for cracks/leaks in the seam sealer on the roof.

I would stay away from silicone for sealing leaks on metal. It attracts moisture and the area will rust. Windshield sealer will work and won't rust. I've seen where a windshield was sealed with silicone and when I saw it it was completely rusted out.

manufacturers use a spray booth, like a automatic carwash without the scrubbers. you climb into the vehicle and if anything leaks you'll see it.
but on the case of these trucks i would hop inside and have someone run a hose all around the seams on the firewall, then the upper cowl area then the windshield, an finally around the roof gutters. thats the way i plan to do mine if it ever sees the light of day again. right now its just the beast that lives in the basement. good luck to you!!!
