What can you tell from this pic?

I was looking through some pics my buddy took of his fathers property, and ran across this...

it was the only one showing this truck, and i wondered what ya'll could tell about it, from what little is showing.

Hopefully, in a couple weeks, i can get down there to see the rest of it
thanks

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

it has a 2 piece windsheild and a single piece side window. I think that makes it 51 -52 wheels are 2.5 ton or heavier.

Cool, that's what i was hoping to hear.

I'd really like a flatbed in this vintage

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

did any of those trucks come with one piece windows? thought they all had wind wings.

also, i think the air vent louver things help tell what year those 49-55.1 trucks are too. I just do not know what that rule is.

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

I thought the first year for the vent side window was 51, that would make this a 48 - 50.

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

After looking in my parts books, 47-50 had the one piece side window. Its fender and wheel configuration is from a 450 series GMC.

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

49/50 are pretty much the same truck as 51-55.1 right? would the doors from the 49/50 fit the 51-55.1 cabs then?

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

54-55 1st series are the only "Advance Design" (47-551st)trucks with one piece windows. They also have a different grill, gauges, flat bed rails and different door hardware. I don't know too much about the "Task Force" (55 2nd-59)trucks other than I like them too! Good luck with the build and keep us posted with pics!

Re: What can you tell from this pic?

There are minor differences in all the years 47.2 to 55.1. Mostly appearence. I don't work with that series that much to say exactly what is different in what year. The cowl part on some years have a louver and some don't. Some have the full side glass and some don't some gmc's of the same year sometimes don't share parts with chevy. After 55 they started to make GMC parts more compatible with chevy. After market MFG's don't make it easy by saying cowl piece xyz fits 47-55 when they are different after a certain year.

As for doors. There is a difference I don't know exactly if its just the vent window and handle. But 51 is a odd ball year on doors.
