later year crossmember not the same ?
i was trying to lower the cab onto my frame today and the floor is sitting on the transmission (700r4) and there is a 1" gap from bottom of front of cab to top of front body cushion. the truck was a 3 speed originally. the x member i found in the junk yard is from a 76 truck. it bolted right up but i think it is not the same as the 70 automatic x member. does anyone know the differance ?

Re: later year crossmember not the same ?
Even in the '67 - '72 era the crossmembers for different trannies have different amounts of drop to keep the tranny (and t-case on 4WD) away from the floor pan.

Re: later year crossmember not the same ?
I`m not sure. But,it does sound like the later crossmember put`s the trans up higher.the`73-ups all had a high hump(right?),so it didn`t matter.
