Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this in front of a local fire station today. '71 Custom/20 brush truck. 350 4 speed, 23,xxx miles. Opening sealed bids on December 3. The only rust I saw was in the PS door front corner and the rear cab corner on the same side (several blisters). Everything else looked rock solid. I may have to throw my hat in the ring - I'm not sure what the local demand is for something like this.

That bed was the first thing that I noticed. Still a nice looking truck, even if it's not a short steper 4x4, looks real clean for Pennsylvania truck

It would be a fun truck to have. I would put a fleetside bed on it and keep it painted up like it is.

Damn Tim, I don't know why I didn't pick up on that considering the number of K-models I've had. My eyes must be going or I've been away to long.

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
i'm sure it'll be expensive considering how little rust it has. put the correct bed back on it, keep the paint scheme, find a set of oem hubs, maybe some towhooks and you have a headturner anywhere. bid early and bid high. i bought a 72 K/20 on a sealed bid auction several years ago---nowhere near as nice as that one--for $649.99.

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
That's what's great about FD vehicles, they REALLY take care of them. They're always kept clean and usually stored indoors their whole life!
I wonder why it ended up with a 73-87 bed? Maybe they bought it used and had a wrecked 73-87 that had been wrecked in the front? I'd buy it and put a long fleet on it

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
I think that`s factory "special paint".Then, they painted to bed to match.....Hey,I know. They had two trucks,a `71 and a `73-up,and the`71 held up better than the other except for the bed....(still wonderin`)

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
I see tow hooks on the front..that would seal the deal if it was me..buy it!!!Heck,I'd buy it anyway and be happy with it as is.I'd find the correct bed for it though..I'd probably keep the long step bed for it,just something different and it probably had one stock.Or put a fleetside bed on it and make it like every other lwb 4wd out there..

Thats cool -- i'd roll it "as - is" --- there might be a good story behind the '73-up fenders

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
That`s what I was thinking.It would make a great start for a resto.But,I`d run it as is,maybe get a fire helmet,too.

Re: Local '71 C20 brush truck up for bid
GO FOR IT!!!!!!!! I would lose that '73-'87 bed or go with a fleetside the same color...keep it as original as possible...it will be worth more. Interesting since the tailights are '67-'72 lights mounted on the '73-'87 brackets so they must have trashed the '67-'72 stepside bed somehow and just replaced it. Long stepside beds are a little hard to find.
