I need one of those Dick Tracey rear axle decoder ring
I have a '71 axle that I want to check numbers on. Anybody?

TRS = 3.07:1

36 years ago it was anyways.
Why not remove the cover and check? The oil probably needs chainged anyways. |

I did pull the cover and it's a 3.07:1 with a posi. I just want to know what the numbers mean.

Did these trucks have 3.08 or 3.07 gears?I thought trucks 12-bolts had 3.08 and cars had 3.07.

I think it's about how you round the numbers when you divide.

no, there is a 3.08, that was for cars, and a 3.07 that was for trucks.
