Where did you mount your tach?

I want to keep my interior looking as original as possible, and I don't want to put one in the original location. I have an Autometer with shift light, but I just can't figure out where to put it. The only place I can think of is below the ac controller, but even that doesn't look right to me. Where did you put yours? Any pics? Thanks.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

I had a 'monster tach' with a shift light mounted in the upper corner of the windshield once. I had to ditch the visor, but it looked soooooo cool.
Although it was a '65 truck, you can still get the idea. Look close, that is not the reflection of the mirror.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

I put mine in a box and then put the box on a shelf. It was on the column, but I didn't like it and figured that I really didn't need one. Well, you asked..

Actually, if I ever put one back in, I would look into installing something in the original tach hole in the cluster.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

I found a tach that fit in the center blank hole of the dash between the speedo and gas. I cut it out and it looks and fit perfect. There is a pic in my build thread below.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

Steering column but I entertained the idea of mounting it under the AC controls aiming up at me.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

I only know one place to put a tach and keep it original looking.I have a pod tach in the center hole in my Sierra.I`ve done the a-pillar before and center/top of dash.I didn`t used to mind just drilling and bolting it up there.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

Yeah, I can't figure out any place to put it to sorta hide it but still be visible to me. It looks like I'll end up putting it under the ac controls and running the shift light to the column, which shouldn't look too bad.

My dash cluster was fortunate enough to have a factory tach, however it would stop once it reached 2500 rpm, so we bought a Sunpro, for now, and mounted it to the steering column.

Re: Where did you mount your tach?

Mine is on the inside of the A piller. Not many people seem to put them here, but its a lot more hidden IMO.
