Help - 72 K20 replace front lighting harness
Hi,
I posted this in the Electrical forum, but I thought it might help to post it here also. I have to replace my front lighting harness on my 72 K20. I purchased one manufactured by M&H. My question is this. Is it necessay to remove the inner fender well to access / install the wiring harness? I've tried tugging on the original harness to remove it, but it doesn't seem to want to budge. Is there a clip / clamp somewhere I'm not seeing? Hopefully there's an easy trick to this I'm not getting. Thanks for your help and advise. Monty |

there is a plastic retainer that holds it in place on the inner flat of the fender. Look for a platic nub sticking through and push it back out, it is taped into the wiring harness.

Re: Help - 72 K20 replace front lighting harness
Have you gotten the harness unplugged from the firewall yet? If not, there is a bolt that you need to remove then the two harnesses that attach there come out in halves. Other than that, you might have a clip or two securing the wiring to the inner finder but they should pop loose pretty easily. I was able to replace mine on both my K5 and K20 without removing the inner fender.

Yukon Jack and 71 Super,
Thanks for your replies. I do now see the one plastic push-thru clip right behind the hood hinge. Looks like it might be a bit of a bear to get the new clip pushed back in. From what I can tell that appears to be the only one (hopefully). Thanks again. Monrty |
