Shorty headers...
I was looking at Jegs and Summit to find a set for my truck. I saw very few for our trucks...does anyone know what car shortys will work on our trucks? I am hoping to hear from someone who actually has a set on their truck now and which one they used. I was thinking El Camino A/G body headers might work, but I wanted to ask before pulling the trigger.

Re: Shorty headers...
Summit has a couple available for our trucks that i would reccomend...
Hedman - 69640 $149 Hedman - 69648 $316 If you are looking for something other than Hedman, check out Sanderson Headers. they make a great product, have a large selection, and you can order directly from their website. Good Luck

Re: Shorty headers...
I looked at Dougs...no part number for a shorty for our trucks.
The two Hedmans...saw them but....neither one say they will fit our trucks. Are you running them brak? I like those Sandersons, but $379 is a bit much. I'd rather spend $149 or less since this is for my work truck.

They always overlook manual trans applications.

Re: Shorty headers...
I am interested in this thread because we have looked high and low for for long tubes or shorties. Our truck is a 4-spd man. trans. Nothing we have found works. Nothing..I have been on the phone with everyone. My son was even @ the Summit store up north, no luck. The man. trans kills us every time???

Re: Shorty headers...
I have seen these installed on a truck here on the board, but off hand the board name isn't coming to me. Let me do some searching.

Re: Shorty headers...
Check out this thread.... link
Also, go back to the main 67-72 checy trucks board page, and all I did was a search for early classic headers, and found that thread like 3 or 4 down from the top. There are probably more threads on the board with more info. East Side Low Life, ESLL, installed those headers.

Re: Shorty headers...
I didn't know block huggers would fit our trucks...those look nice!
My friend Bill got Hedmans [the coated ones]. I am going to go by and check the fit before he puts his motor together. I think those are probably the ones I will wind up with.

Re: Shorty headers...
ECE are made by SANDERSON small tubes 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" I have headman chevelle shortys 68600 i think is the number they are not a bolt on for our trucks using stock mounts the will not work . must use 73 up mounts or a aftermarket from cpp .

Re: Shorty headers...
I went to Bill's...his Hedmans fit very well with my plan [ease of spark plug removal is key]. I am also intrigued by the block huggers though. I thought they wouldn't work with 67-72 trucks.

Re: Shorty headers...
elk I forgot to add that my motor is in 6 cylinder location ,but I belief they will work in either location only couple inches difference. ........on the coated heddman headers my dad put a set on his 69 camaro at about same time I got mine and after a couple of months they started rusting he has to hit them with steel wool all the time to remove rust all I have had to do is wipe dust off mine, and I have seen this on another set of coated heddman headers on a friend of mines(note they say thermal coated and not ceramic coated in jegs) I know a lot of guys on here run these and love them ,maybe they will tell you how thiers held up.
