Thumbs down How should I lower the truck?

I am looking to lower a 1975 Chevy C-10 "Heavy Half" LWB, quite a bit lower, but not slammed. Kind of as a temporary thing, since I would like to apply airbags sooner or later (whenever I can get the money together). Where should I look for a lowering kit? And how low do you think I should go without having to worry about any clearance probelms with the rear axles/differential, curbs, or speed bumps?

Re: How should I lower the truck?

You can try Jegs or Summit, they just resell the kits from McGaughys, DJM, Belltech and the like. I lowered mine 3.5"/5" (flip kit and cut coils) and dont have any clearance problems except for the bolt associated with the spare tire carrier, it extends down pretty far. You could do a flip kit ($95), 2.5" drop spindles ($250) and either cut one loop out of your coils or buy drop coils ($100). You wont need new springs on the front (unless your stock ones are tired) and if you get the flip kit with the shock mount relocators like I did you wont need then in the rear either. Keep us updated.

Re: How should I lower the truck?

I did 2.5 in the front with drop spindles and 4 in the back with spring shackles and hangers, leveled the truck nicely without cutting coils or flipping springs. the original susp. geometry is still intact with some hauling capabilities and no clearence probs, and it was easy to install. best of luck, bob
