Hey ebfabman.....
Some people have said that you are the metal working master,so I have a question for you. I am going to be replacing the floor, a rocker, the lower part of the kick panels, the rear-side part of the floor, and possibly the floor supports. Do you have any suggestions on the order of things to replace? Any tips? This is the first time my dad or I have done anything like this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here is the order I replace things.
First cut away all the rust. Then start fitting and welding the floor areas (usually the floors will have the inner rocker on them) Then the kick panels. Then the cab supports. Then "A" and "B" pillars (door jams) Then put the doors back on (make sure the hinges are in good shape) adjust the doors so they line up good with an even gap all the way around (this is an important step) Then fit up the outer rocker so there is an even gap between the bottom of the door and rocker all the way across. Then fit and weld cab corners. This is usually how I do it, but it is not the only way. [This message has been edited by ebfabman (edited May 18, 2002).] |

Do you usually do it witht the cab on or off the frame. Mine is off right now. Do you do any bracing in the door opening? I know that you need to take a LOT of measurements to make sure you get it right. Thanks again.
