What size tire is available for 15x8 ralleys to fill without loweiring truck. I wanted 265s but I heard they are not that common, any pics of yours or reccomends will be appreciated.

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

Otsenre,

I took a look in the Tire and Rim Association book and found the following largest 15" sizes approved for 8" wide rims.

P265/75R15 OD 30.7-31" 10.4" wide
P275/70R15 OD 30.2-30.4" 10.8" wide
P295/60R15 OD 29" 11.6" wide

or go to a light truck size

LT315/70R15 OD 32.4-32.6" 12.4" wide

or go to a floatation size

32X11.50-15 LT OD 31.5-31.75" 11.5" wide

larger, lower aspect ratio tires get smaller in diameter and require wider rims

Offset requirements and width clearance, I don't know.

Hope this helps some.

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

You should run a 275/60/15, that is the perfect/ideal size. That is what I am running on my '71 and it is what I ran on my '86 and it is what I ran on my '90 454SS, all round perfect size and if you can spring for it, get the BFGoodrich Radial T/A's if you can afford them, I have some off brands but want to go BFGs sometime.

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

I have 255/70's on 15x8 ralley's ,rear of my longhorn. The tires fit the wheels nice(nice flat footprint), & are 29" tall. my truck is lowered, but they should fill the fenders ok on a stock height truck. crazyL

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

I'm runnin' LT 31 x 10.50- 15's They fill up the fenders pretty well, but I personally am saving up my beer cans to get some of them 275 x 60-15 BFG's. That is if I keep the 15" rally's.

'round these parts a set of BFG 275 x 60-15 T/A's will run about 400-450 bucks. If you want the g/Force T/A's...look at throwin' down 'bout seven fiddy!

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

I like the 275/60R15's (28" tires) the best as far as performance. Some good big white letters look awesome. The first pic of my truck is stock height w/ the 275's. The second pic is w/ my new 265/75r15's (30" tires) and they are VERY common General's. Big Black Rubber. I went to the larger tire to get a little more out of my top end on the highway since I am running a TH350 w/ 4.10 gears. I get terrible gas mileage. Hope this helps!!! Sorry, forgot to mention that my wheels are 10" wide...but these will also fit very nicely on your 8" rims.

Bfg P235-75-r15

When you jump to 255, 265 etc your choices get more limited and more $$$.

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

on my longbed I went with 255-70-15 but on a short bed I think a 60 series looks better. Oh yeah , Im running stock springs and suspension also and they look good in this stance

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

275/60x15 on 8" rims. When the truck ion the road again I'll switch from the 8" white spokes to 8" ralleys.

Even though I am on the dollies right now, you get an idea how they look.

I'm running 245-60's on my 8-inch rims, on the front of my truck. I have 275-60's on the 10-inch wide wheels on the back.

Re: What size tire for 15x 8 ralley

I've got 235/75/16's on my '69, but I'm going with a set of 275/60/15 rears and 255/60/15 fronts. The 235's look too small IMO.

I'm running 245-60-15's on the front and 295-50-15's on the back on 15X8 rims. Here is a side shot of the back. I'll dig around some more for better all around pics.
