my truck!
WELL, as you all might have remembered, I bought my '67 GMC from my uncle back in september. It's still in his machine shed because I'm in university & short on $. I promised pics & here they are. Sorry for the quality but I'm not too good with the digicam yet. Please tell me what ya think.... It was a farm truck that hauled water for most of its life.

Looks pretty good. Other than the rust it seems to be in good shap, and it should make a nice truck.

Thanks larry,
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how ez it is to fix my cab rust? I know thats a super common question... I am planning to pull off the cab, set it on a block of foam on rollers & weld it up. I've got lots of plans for the truck BUT first I gotta get it street legal. The corners, the inner & outer rockers, and the floors are all rotten. Any Winnipegers out there?

It's too bad you couldn't come to CA and get a new cab. lol I don't know too much about body work, but as long as it is only the floor rockers and cab corners that are bad, you should be able to fix it. When the rust starts to get into the rest of the cab, then it's time to find a new one.

Pretty cool truck. How does it run?

It runns really well-the rear main seal leaks a tiny bit & thus makes the clutch chatter a bit but otherwise it's smooth runner. yup, its a textured box lid - whats special about it? I looked inside for the build sticker & there's none.

Not a Winnipegger , but a couple Flin Flonners here!!! My husband is replacing his cab corners and rockers on his 72, so maybe he will have some insight on how to repair the rust after he gets his done up. Looks like it will be a nice truck. Welcome to the Board

the bungie cord holds that little "velocity stack" onto the carb sez my uncle & yea, it is a classic farmer fix - look whats holding in the battery! Hi to all who live near by! & I look forward to hearing how your tinwork goes - tips to make it ez & do it right will be much appreciated. I'm building a steel cranked 350 (68 327 block), polished & shotpeened rods, KB hyperutectics (sp?), a roller cam & trickflow twisted wedge heads. Some headders & an rpm intake outa top it off. I'm aiming for 400-430 crankshaft hp. as for body-i'm lookin to make a really nice summer hauler. I'll replace all metal that needs it, rust proof the s##t out of it, slap some orange paint on it & mabe some sweet wheels. I'm more of a motor guy so i can see that more clearly in my head BUT other mods i think will just happen as they come along... I'm open to suggestions bigtime! I think i wanna resto the truck but make it better in most areas... suggestions? I wanna put tow hooks on it, a heavyduty step bumper, & i dunno what else...

I guess that bungee cords are just high-tech substitutes for baling wire....easy fit and adjustable.
Welcome to the board. Make sure you spend your time studying and not getting your daily/hourly fix from the board. It is habit-forming, for sure. Your rust seems about average, considering your weather and the effects of road salt, etc. Down here in Arkansas, we don't have salt, but we do have mud. Mud causes rust, too....if it is allowed to accumulate. You, like a lot of us, have your work cut out for you. After all, it's only money, eh?

Hey, that looks like a pretty good starter truck... Not in Winnipeg, but it's just about as cold here, and just as salty in the winter!
