lights??... maybe

I have an interesting situation, as usual. I have been having a tailight, dashlight problem. I figured out what it was finally, the fuse wasn't blown but wasn't connected inside the glass very well so only made contact every once in a while. I replaced it and all was fine except now I don't have front running lights and my headlights don't work all the time. I turn them on and they are on but no parking lights... turn signals work. Then I turn them on at a later time and nothing... no headlights bright or dim and no running lights. Think it's a grounding issue? I replaced the headlight switch when I was having the other problem hoping that was it, so it's new. Oh and I replaced the heater core and discovered the headlight thing so my luck, the truck is one of those you can have this but not this things...daytime truck only...

Check the dimmer switch on the floor, mine looked fine until the terminal fell off! A new switch and a clean up of the floor where it's mounted cured all my headlight/dashboard woes.

I thought about the dimmer switch...as I was stomping on it...trying to adjust it?? anyway I'll switch the one out of the 71 and see if thats it...I'll just drive the fast but ugly one until I can get this figured out.

From past experience and from hearing others mention the deal with the park lights, if seems to be normal that the park lights turn off when the head lights are turned on. I never noticed it myself until I installed my new wiring harness. As far as the headlights, I'd be checking dimmer switch. Its quite common for the switch in its location to get badly abused. It don't help that it gets stomped on either.

The front parking lights should only turn off on a 67. By 68 the feds required them to stay on wih the headlamps.

Just means some one thought it was messed up and did it his way.
Could also mean that the harness was replaced too.
