That is for the Rear AC controls. I have scene people take that piece out and turn it in to a compartment space.

Double checked the buttons they do work. Attached are more photos of the buttons. Second photo shows how the harness was cut behind the plugs. Their is some dust on the console was sitting in garage for some time. If you need photos just let me know.

I was looking at the area just below the one you showed in your first photo in the last post. Can you get a close up of that? It's the only door with a raised grey area on it [just below the map lights].

One of the photos shows the orginal/factory white velco used for home garage remote (was never used). Also tried to show that clips are not broken. Just let me know what you think.
