i been thinkin of converting my 70 c10 to disk brakes and was wondering if i should go with gmc pauls six lug conversion kit or get a 73 and up front end.

i am leaning towrad the kit as i would have to just replace everything from the junk yard anyway,like rotors and calipers,hoses and tie rods.

plus i would get a 2.5 drop and not have to buy new rims for the truck.

would you guys recommend that i get the kit over having to go to the salvage yard and get the front end?

yeah i know a no brainer question but was wanting imput through you guys as to the pros and cons of going the 6 lug kit vs the salvage yard route,aside from price.

If you are going to drop the front 2 1/2" then I would say you would be ahead buying the kit. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

i was thinking of dropping the front 2.5 and the rear 3 inches so i guess this would be the easiest way for me to do it and the cheapest. like i said it was a no brainer question.

I used a kit to drop my '69, and convert it to disc brakes. The spindles gave me a 2.5-inch drop in the front, with new stock height springs. The rear was lowered by 4-inches, and has relocated shock mounts, and an adjustable track bar. I also had to replace all of the ball joints, both upper control arm shafts and bushings, lower control arm bushings, both inner and outer tie rod ends, pitman arm and idler arm. The center link was okay.

You won't regret the conversion. I also stayed with 6-lug pattern. Your '70 can be fitted with axles from '71-73 pick up rear ends to convert to 5 lugs. The '64-69 rear axles are narrower than the 70-73's.

Dont forget the hassle of getting the rear swapped over to 5 lug too if you go that route.

I did the same conversion, dropped spindles,disc, I bought the complete kit from Tuckers in Las Vegas. It cost $700.00 It was complete with all new parts ,Tie rods,ball joints Etc. The only thing they didn't supply was the Disc,shoe brake proportioning valve.
