converting long bed to short?

I was woundering what is involved in this and am considering doing it to my 67. I have seen a few people doing this on this forum and was woundering if they could share some pics and thoughts on this. I think converting my long box to a short would be cool and worth the time it would take to do so.

Re: converting long bed to short?

thanks, that really helped.

Now the only other thing i have to consider is bedsides. If i purchased new ones from lmc im looking at close to $1000. The probability of me finding used bedsides around here are very unlikely so i was thinking about cutting my long bedsides and shortening them. anyone ever done this? would i only have to take length out of the front part of the bed or would i have to cut some off the back aswell? how much longer are the long bedsides compared to the short?

Look up "LFD's Low Buck Truck Build" in the project section. It has all the info you are needing with pic's.

Re: converting long bed to short?

I had to buy a complete SWB donor truck when doing mine for the bed... also had a few other nifty parts. Good luck with it, short fleets are the way to go IMO.
