What did you get done this weekend?

I got the new alt on and wired. Thanks for all the help. I got the oil press gauge working, fixed the turn signal wiring, hooked the heater hoses up,and replaced the rearview mirror. Here's a pic of the motor with the one wire on.

Hauled enough firewood to the shop to get me through the rest of the winter.

I tore down 2 trucks to frames and cabs. What kind of alternator mount is that?

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I got it from Speedway years ago. It mounts to the water pump and the front intake bolt. Really nice for heads with no acc holes. It's a nice solid mount.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I trimmed a tree and took the cuttings to the green waste dump. Exciting, eh?

But, on my 64 I installed a new turn signal switch. The original one was shot (both electrically and mechanically) and the PO had bandaided all the wiring to work around it, instead of just changing the switch! They had run about 30' of extra wire that I've removed. So, I've finally got all the lights working properly.

Hey poorboy, that is one shiny alternator. And I thought I was doing well switching the original DN style (external regulator) over to the later SI (internal reg). What the heck is that rasamatas next to the master cylinder? I can't make heads or tails from that angle.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I got the old crap motor out of my truck and placed my new motor between the fenders. Just got to get it all hooked up and running now...

It's a power brake booster. It actually still worked with the old motor. I have not hooke dit back up with this one. It's going to be changed anyways.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Saturday we went out to get a new fridge for one of our units. Then I did something with my son but can't remember. Sunday I made my son Multi Grain Waffles for breakfast then we managed to get out and go for a bicycle ride in Golden Gate Park for a bit then he came home and got to play with his cousin for a bit while the fridge was being delievered. We went to my friends house who was jamming with some guys and my son was listening to them jam and then off food shopping at Trader Joe's and by then the day was over. Oh I also got some laundry done this weekend. Hey I looked at my truck anyway...

Test fit the motor for the first time then pulled it back out, notched and recessed the firewall for distributor clearance and header clearance, then cut out the trans tunnel to begin lifting it.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I installed an original Delco radio in my 83 on Friday. Got some tunes now. On Saturday the band played at a local casino. Then on Sunday I was lazy most of the day then I went out to de-ice the driveway and fire up the 62 and let her run for a while.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Finished rebuilding the center section of a 1971 12 bolt, rebuilt a 3 series posi unit then installed a 3.40 ring and pinion. Need to test fit the brakes, then disassemble and paint before installing in my truck.

That's what i did as well. Its not often we get clear roads in January without snow, ice or salt all over the place. With the new gears in the rearend I wanted to get some miles on it to make sure everything was OK.... and it was! The new power steering was also fun to play with. Glad I did it cause its back to winter today. Six inches of fresh snow.
