Custom subwoofer enclosure

Who has replaced their old interior gas tank with a sub enclosure. I am contemplating building a box for our 72 as part of the restoration. I would like to get some ideas and see what other owners have done.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Custom subwoofer enclosure

no pics yet (waiting to get done with the entire build). but look into "shallow mount" subs. i am doing 4 of our KICKER CVT 10" subs in my cab. they are only 4" deep and ask for .39 cu ft- .8 cuft per sub. this way i am not biteing the steering wheel.....good luck lets see the pics when you get done.

Re: Custom subwoofer enclosure

Thanks for the info. I'll check into the shallow mount subs and start my measurements for the enclosure. I will incorporate the center console into the rear panel as well for a more fluid look.

will they fit under the seats? thought of making a custom bottom for my center console to mount one inside sort of like the new subs on the GM suvs.

Re: Custom subwoofer enclosure

Here's mine. Started building it today. Tomorrow I'm gonna start on the console. Which will tie into the box.

Re: Custom subwoofer enclosure

i was thinking in the last couple of days of doing a factory gas tank in fibreglass and using the original tank carpet so it looks like the tank, but its really just a box?

depends on the amount of air space you have, look at the specs of shallow mount you are interested in and kinda go from there.
