Has anybody tried these yet ???

I have the H-4 headlights in my truck now, but one of them got hit by a rock going down the road & so now I'm thinking of getting something a lil different

I wanted to know if they made 7" round headlights with projectors in them, so I hopped on evilbay & found these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...39483&rd=1#pol

My question is: has anyone here tried them or know of anyone who has, I just don't wont to waste my money on these if they don't really "project" the light like they're supposed to

And if these are crap, does anyone know of some that are good ???

I'm always weary of sellers who charge that much for shipping. $30 worth of shipping on a $10 product...

Re: Has anybody tried these yet ???

Even with the game they're paying with the shipping, they look like a great deal. The black part of the light has nothing to do with the light output. That is controlled solely by the round lens. I'm not a big fan of the angel eyes thing though. Every vehicle I have from now on, I will look to see if I can get projectors. They are the best!!! They put out an even flood of light and then they have a cut-off so that they don't shine into oncomoing driver's eyes. There is also a kick-up to the right to help illuminate roadsigns. And the city lights can be hooked up as turn signals.

If I were going to run projectors...I'd probably make the jump to HID as well. I've been eyeballin' this setup shown in the link for awhile now, but can't seem crap out the duckets needed to acquire a set. Nonetheless- another option for ya'. For the price of the ones you're lookin' at on ebay- I say give 'em a try and see how you like them.

The sellers keep the starting or buy it now price down and charge more for shipping because that way they make the same amount of money but they don't have to pay evilBay as much....

I read an excellent article on these, they seemed to be great. But for the price, you could get the black ones, then upgrade later to HID's with a kit like one of these, http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&sear...textbin=XenPro from Amazon, or somwhere else. You'd be way ahead on money. And HID's draw less amperage, so they are great for older trucks.

For those who will certainly jump up and say that it is illegal to put in HID's, if you have projector lenses, they are legal to use HID's, because of the focus of the beam and the cutoff that cuts down on glare in oncoming driver's driver's eyes.

Re: Has anybody tried these yet ???

I'm not concerned with the price or the shipping, or them being black

I just know that if those lenses aren't designed right, that the light won't focus correctly & they won't function like real projectors do

I was just curious to see if anyone had tried them & knew if they worked right & if they were just for looks

I mean, if they work just as good as my H-4's I have now they'll be ok
But I really want them to work like projectors should

Re: Has anybody tried these yet ???

I don't know much about the projectors mounted inside 7" housings, but I do know that when I had my Beemer- I put in a set of the "off-brand" projectors and then compared them to my buddies 325 that had either the Hella or ZKW (I don't remember) O.E. units.......suffice it to say the Euro-spec Kraut versions kicked holy arse on the chinese knock-offs! They focused the beam much better, had a crisper cut-off, fit like a glove and were visibly made of better materials. The moral of the story is as in most things....you get what you pay for!

Re: Has anybody tried these yet ???

Sounds like no one for sure has tried them out. I think the black lights look outstanding on the front of the black truck. But, I am biased, I have blackedout projectors on the front of my black 99. And it's a bargain for both left and right sides.
