Clutch Adjustment
I just install a new Clutch and Transmission. I'm trying to get the clutch adjusted, what is the corect way? I have about 1/4 pedal coming off of the floor and about 2 inches going in. What should it be?

My rule of thumb is you need to be able to push the clutch pedal all the way in and have atleast 1/8" of movement before it starts to engage. You can have more, it depends on how you like your clutch to work.
The other end of adjustment (you've gone too far), has always been to get the truck on paved road, and put in high gear (4th?). You need to be able to stall the truck when you let the clutch out w/ the brakes on. If so, the clutch is fully engaged.

A good rule of thumb......when its good & warm, if you can put the clutch down at a stop & go into reverse with no gearclash you are good to go. I like to see a diaphragm clutch start to take hold about 2 1/2" off the floor. Most books will have you set "freeplay" at the top to a certain spec(off the top of my head 1 1/4 to 1 1/2")....crazyL

The way I adjust mine, is mainly by feel and what I like. About 1 1/2 to 2 inches of free play.

shorten the rod on the bottom, to give more freeplay on top.....
