Cheap S10 - some assembly required - it now runs!
Well, picked up a cheap S10 this weekend...
It is an 83, 4wd, 2.8L, 4 speed manual with 76K on it... only thing is the motor and tranny were in the bed! It was from a retired guy... bought it from another retired guy, but it leaked oil so bad, he decided to pull the motor and replace the gaskets/seals. Got in over his head and decided to sell it.

Nice score. I have bought a lot of them but never got to build one. Always someone that wanted them more than I did.

Re: Cheap S10 - some assembly required...
nice,
i almost bought a 82 s10 for a project but passed it up (and im kicking my self for it). They wanted 200 for it and all that was wrong was that it need a trans seal. I always wanted a v8 powered s10 and that one would of been perfect for it, but oh well.

Re: Cheap S10 - some assembly required...
Thanks guys.
I've been meaning to get some more pictures of it, but just haven't had time! We've been working on the suspension first (seals, cv shafts, gears), then we will start on the motor and tranny.

Hey Tink,
what are your plans for that truck? Stock look or are you gonna raise it and throw on some big tires? Dano

Re: Cheap S10 - some assembly required...
Gonna stay stock for a little while... then maybe a small lift and some 32s. A light trail rig.

Re: Cheap S10 - some assembly required...
Well, thought I'd update this since it now runs! Not a ball of fire... just your typical 2.8L - thankfully the manual helps. Other than giving it the 91 Blazer's old 3.42 gears, just basically did gaskets, tune-up, exhaust, clutch and removed a load of emissons BS...
Got it on the road last week... here are some pics: Gotta love these Durango Badges: Sure hope it does better on gas than the fullsize he drives to work now!

Re: Cheap S10 - some assembly required...
Glad to see the motor and tranny are out of the bed and back in the bay!
