How fast do you think we could do it?
Well?
Oh, build a truck of course!! Just a random thought I had last night. Somehow, some stuff from the Factory Five brochure popped into my head (Factory Five makes Cobra replica kits that use an '87-'93 Mustang as the donor car...you end up with a really nice looking Cobra, that runs like a new car, for a lot less money and work than most of the others...anyway) where they mentioned that they've had groups assemble cars in a few days for fun before... And it got me thinking... Let's say we got a decently large group of people from the board together, with all of the funds and/or parts needed to do a frame-up...how quickly do you think we could do it? I'm not saying we should necessarily (though it would be fun); we'd probably spend a week discussing whether it should be a short or longbed, two or four wheel drive, lifted, stock, or lowered, cut the dash or not, fuel injected or carbeureted, discs or drums or drums plus kevlar, leaf or coil, Chevy or GMC, '67 or '70 or '72...small block Chevy or 500 cube Caddy...stick or manual... Hell, I bet the only things we'd agree on would be an HEI and a sway bar! LOL... Just food for thought.

Not even everyone agrees on HEI. There are a couple die-hard points guys on the board. (i'm a HEI man myself...) .
About the only thing that we could agree on is that it would be a '67-'72 . I f there was enough people......maybe 5 days from a bare frame and a pile of parts into a brand new trucks. Five days of late nights and many coolers of beer .

....that's what SHE said...
Let's see. We need a consensus, right? How many people are "on the board". We still have polls. We all have opinions. It could get to be like the Little Red Hen baking bread...nobody wants to help, but everybody wants to drive.

you would have to get seperate groups.. one for the orginal type, one for the lowered street rod custom crowd, then the lifted 4x4 monster type trucks..
of course you would have 3 groups with in each group. the 67-68 people, the 69-70 and the 71-72. i know what group id fit in. lol.. orginal 71-72 group would be a fun deal. if i win this 50mill loto ill sponcer it. hows that?

we could all donate parts and build up a truck and then sell it on e-bay and give josh the money for the board. or sell raffle tickets here and whoever wins gets it and josh get's the money. i'm going to pull a lot of parts off the gmc this summer. what does everyone else think?

wouldn't it be cool if we could get a bunch of us together to build one and see if we could get the fine folks at the Guiness Book of World Records to show up? Then we take the truck once it's done, and sell tickets on it in a raffle or sell it on e-bay

Or on another note, we could sell it on ebay and give the $$$ to a charity or something of the sort... just a thought.

Even the most experienced builders, with alot of money. Doing a slamjam job, takes a average of 3-6 months. It depends on how good a job you want to do. Building a truck from the ground up takes alot of planning, and ordering waiting on parts. Waiting on paint to cure proper be fore reassembling panels. Bottom line money and lots of it.
I bet if you had a endless supply of money and wanted a truck built yesterday, it'd take quite a few people working shifts around the clock, and it'd have to be in a area with alot of shops that did true classic restorations. I'd still say a good 1 month, if you got lucky and had know delays.

Great idea. I have the front drums for the brakes and a pitman arm for the manual steering I think the for charity idea is good. Get TLC or somesuch channel to videotape it. It could be a new series.... Junkyard Trucks or Monster Truck Wars or...
