Another tach cluster question

A guy locally advertised a tach cluster from he says an '82 truck. From my searching of threads here and 73-87.com it seems that after '80 info gets a little sparse.

If the cluster is from a 6 cyl. truck will it just not work (calibrated wrong) or can you do something to "fix" it to work for an 8 cyl.?

In the ad it says that a few of the mounting tabs are broken but shouldn't be a problem. If the housing (the blue part) has broken mounting tabs can you pull the guts and circut board(?) from the cluster and re-install them in a good housing?

Or is this a lost cause?

Re: Another tach cluster question

If your using a nontach housing to mount the tach into then you will need to cut a small opening into the bak of the housing for the terminal housing/ tach mount to protrude thru the back.
