Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

Out of anything I have seen I agree that any years are great and they all have different attributes. I know I am building a LWB but I thing the dream truck would be a 69 K Series 4x4 SWB with all the fixins. IMO

Great thread. As the joke goes with the corvette option.

I know its a matter of preference but what year and model truck is the most desirable? Thanks.
( Welcome from the San Fernando Valley)

Desirable for what? You want to get some chics or haul manure? Personally I end up hauling more manure so I'd say the "Longhorn" with it's 8' 6" fleetside bed is the ticket. Put some stakes and 4 ft. sides on one and you can haul a lot of stuff. Plus they come pretty stout so you have a real truck to start out with,no need for "bed-extenders" or other extra equipment often needed on the 1/2 bed, weak spring models.

Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

If we are talking from the factory (and not counting Blazers) it would be a toss up between.

1. 68 C10 SWB, Fleetside, BB, CST, AC, buddy buckets, tilt, ect...
2. 72 Cheyenne Super, SWB, Fleetside, BB, AC, buckets, tilt, ect...

I actually like the 72 Chevy LWB 4x4. I just like the looks of an 8' bed better, probabally not as desirable as the swb though.

Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

I think they are all Icon's. Some say the swb are more desirable, yet on the farm all you would see for the most part would be lwb trucks because they were able to hold more thus they were able do more work than swb trucks. I like the 67-68 trucks but since I have my 70 I am growing real fond of 69-70 trucks. My Dad had a 72 and I never did adjust to the "egg crate" look of the grille. Maybe it reminded me of gathering eggs when i was a youngin. K10 verse C10...yes the K10 may go places where the C10 cannot but after 30 years the average guy/gal is not going rock climbing with their restored truck. All in all I like them all from the base C10/K10 to the fully loaded truck. SWB verse LWB...it's just a matter of preference. At least it's a Chevy/GMC and not a Dodge/Ford. May our ICON's live forever!!

Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

i think as far as factory trucks go, 71-72's have to be up on top just becasue of the options and features they had, like disc brakes, sway bars, ect.

i know other years had some of that stuff but it seems like 71-2 for options you had it all

my most preferable truck would be a completely stock 71 K20 cheyenne super, with a/c, buckets, tilt tach, am/fm, ect. and i say 71 cause i dont really care for the 72 door panels

if they would have made it, it would be neat to have a 71-2 cheyenne super K30, with a big block, dana 60/14 bolt all optioned out in medium bronze/ white two tone

Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

My first intro to this era of trucks was my Jr. year in high school when my dad bought me my first vehicle. (72 C10 step) Now 17 years later I just bought a 68 C10 step. I have alot of plans for it and unlike the 72 this time I have the money.

Re: Most "Desirable" Year and Model Truck

yea you see a ton of 71-72 not as much 69-70 because the grills are so expensive to replace so alot of people put a 71-72 grill in a 69-70 truck
