I would like to know if anyone knows where you can buy front brake drums for a '68 C-10 with the center hub. Every brake drum I have seen does not have the center hub. Thanks in advance.

not sure if i follow what you're asking?

it sounds like you're asking about a spindle, but with a drum brake? but such a thing doesn't exist.

i'm in GA too, and selling a complete '68 front suspension if you're interested, with four american racing wheels and tires for $200, plus drum brakes, crossmember, control arms, springs, etc. all that other stuff is included (even new tie rods + sleeves and center link), got it listed in the classifieds if you want to look and see if it's what you need.

I don't need the spindles, just the drums. The center hub is the piece that is riveted to the drum and the race where the wheel bearings go sits in the hub. Everywhere I've looked has only had just a drum.

Been a while since I had a 1/2 ton (like 12 years) but all I remember is the drum being one piece that just slid over the studs like in this pic;

If memory serves, and I admit, it's been a long time, you have to grind off the rivets & reuse the hubs.
I could very well be wrong, so if I am, I hope somebody corrects me.

You can get drums at the auto parts store, if they don't have them in stock, they can order them

This type of setup does not ring a bell with me either. I've got a 68 GMC and a 69 Chevy both with drums all around but they don't have a center hub. Are you sure it's not the spindle that you are needing.

A pic would help.

from the factory the drums are riveted onto the hubs and the replacement drums have always been just the drum requireing the rivets to b ground off and resusing the original hubs//from new they have never been available as hub and drum in one piece

Chevyman, I see what you are saying now, downs has it right, you reuse your original hubs.

I meant "hub" not spindle on last sentence.

And now I do recall having to remove the rivets on the picture below when I first did a brake job on my 68 GMC... 15 years ago.. Memory ain't what it used to be.

That's exactly what I was talking about. No one seems to sell the hubs though. My '68 was wrecked several years ago and plan on rebuilding it but I had to use one of the front drums on another truck because that truck had one front drum that the inside of the hub where the race goes was scarred up so the race would just spin around freely in the hub. I guess I will have to get one of those front disc conversion kits, probably will be easier in the long run with the disc anyway. One question, can I use the stock style master cylinder that came on my '68 and will I be able to leave it manual brakes or will I have to convert to power brakes too?

you'd need to upgrade your master cylinder for disk/drum instead of drum/drum... you'd need the correct proportioning valve too. However, you don't need a booster. GM sold billions of disk brake vehicles wioth no booster.
