Speaker Help Please

Ok,so i have a 1986 Chevy C10 swb, well,i took my dash off today, and i MUST be measuring way off, because according to the measurment i made, the one speaker on top of the dash,is comin up 10in long and 4in wide? That's gotta be way wrong,if anyone out there with the same truck i have knows what size speaker goes on the dash could you please tell me? Thanks!

Re: Speaker Help Please

If it's an 86 you should be able to mount 3.5 inch speakers on each side of the dash. More common and cheaper.

Re: Speaker Help Please

i just put a speaker box behind my seat its got a 8 inch sub and a tweeter on the top seems to do the trick. i bought it for $29. seemed like an easier cheaper way then taking the dash out and buying the odd ball 4x10

Re: Speaker Help Please

Small block, I know for a fact that AutoZone sells replacement speakers for 4x10, for like $15, not the best. I also know that Pioneer has them for like $30 or so.

Re: Speaker Help Please

I think the two speakers on each side of the dash would be better as you should be able to find better quality components to fit.

Re: Speaker Help Please

LMC sells a dual speaker to replace the one center speaker on the 73-80 trucks, and also sells the 4x10, but I think they are a little expensive.

Re: Speaker Help Please

Yeah, it's 4x10. Really bad size.

This has already been mentioned but I'll confirm it. LMC sells a speaker plate that has two 3.5s or 4s. I don't remember how much it was though....

What I say, fill the holes, make some fiberglass pillar pods and throw some 5.25s or even 6.5s in there. You'll like them better I think...
