I was wondering i have a 72 c10 and am wanting to look into a different bench ( only bench) seat* mayb one with a flip up middle with the cup holders or whatever does anyone know what i should look into meaning years/ styles anything i dont know were to begin my search* any pics to follow those would be awesome(preferably in the truck but might be hard to come by so i understand) thanks everyone

um way prefer bolt on i live an apartment so the more bolt on stuff the better i hate it but its the way it is for now if i dont use factory holes and make my own is there an easy way to plug the old holes tell i can do it right

i'm not sure what newer trucks have seats that are bolt on for our trucks except 73-85. but they really dont have what your looking for. as for fab work, anything that measures the same will work with a little cut and weld

do any of those years have the center console that can be up or down because i like a center console but i like cruisin with the little lady next to me and the dog out the window

my dads 02 toyota tundra has a bench seat that is just how you described. it also had adjustible head rests. it looks like it would need some holes drilled in the floor but thats about it!

When i bought mine, about 6 months ago, i was lookin for different seat options and found this to maintain bench style.

I am fairly certain it requires a little fab work but the 60/40 middle seats of late '90s tahoes was used quite a bit. . .i will see if i can find where i saw it. . .

o its ok about the toyota seat i have a sticker on the back of my truck that says made with tools not chopsticks and my dad has an 08 tacoma and i give him crap so i couldnt otherwise i bet it would look cool thanks for the thought

i doubt you'll find ANYTHING that is a bolt in. (the comment on the 73 - 87 being a bolt in is WAY off, they have totally funky floor boards, NOTHING bolts into them, and nothing in one of them will bolt into anything else)
Go to the junk yard and look around. If you are 5 ft 11 or more, you'll want to pay close attention to the thickness of the seatback. The thinner the better, you'll also want to pay attention to flat floors, or fairly flat floors.
There's hundreds of possibilies at your local wrecking yards... from the 60's to the 08 models.

sorry, po told me that the bench that was in it was from an 78 short step and that those years were bolt in direct fit. ha, i guess we were both wrong.
i got a nice set of buckets from a 2004 vette that i modded to fit if you want pics i can snap some tomorrow for ya.. just for reference.

To plug old holes put a bolt back in.Steel Horse makes the fod down/cupholder replacement seats.A`73-up seat will bolt into the two outer front holes and that`s all I know for sure.They are designed with lower stantions since the floor is humped-up for side-mount tanks.The back will sit about 3" up into the window.My wrecker had about a`78 seat in it when I bought it.
I had a`69 Dodge Power Wagon that had a junk yard seat from a Polaris,about same year,that had contoured head rests anf fold-down arm rest.People thought I was nuts for putting an original park bench back in when I restored it.You can put about any seat in you want from a "normal"() sized car with minimal work.I can see even that would be a pain in an apt. building lot,though.

that 73 - 87 seat coulda been placed on 67 - 72 seat frame... but the whole seat would have never bolted in.

Seats from '88-98 are, and have been, a popular replacement for the stock seat. Sure, you may have to drill a couple of holes, but the width of the seat is right and the backs of those seats are not too thick so they won't interfere with the tank. They just don't have cup holders. If you get one with the foldin arm rest, like the one in my '96 GMC, you'd have one of your wants. As to the drink holder, you may want to get one of those that fits into the ashtray (you don't smoke, right?), which requires a little work. I think Brother's truck parts has those, maybe Early Classic, too. There may be a vendor on this site who has them. If you haven't seen them, the dash would look stock with the tray closed, and when you pull it open, you have holders for two cups....one for your girl and one for you.

Seats from 99 and up are also supposed to fit, width-wise, but I don't know about the back/tank situation. A 2nd-row Tahoe seat is another but you wouldn't have any fore/aft adjustment with it.

Custom Classic Trucks magazine did an article, or was it just Classic Trucks? Anyway, they specifically measured a number of junkyard seats, looking for one that they could use in a '64 Chevy/GMC that was being built in the magazine. That article would be at least three years old, and I don't recall which specific issue it is. The width of our trucks is the same, inside, as the previous series, and that was the crux of the issue.
