fenders or inner fenders go on first?
On this front end assembly.....do the inners go on first, or do I need to wait until I get my fenders painted and put them on first?

I think it would be easier to put the inner fenders on first.

I just did mine the other day. I fully installed the inners to the outers on the ground and then put them on the truck as one piece. It worked perfectly! And because I used repro inners, it was a big help doing this off the truck to get all the bolt holes lined up.
I painted the inners body color so I didn't want to scratch them all up doing it the other way. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html

I ALWAYS PUT THE FENDERS ON FIRST,SQUARE THEM UP,BOLT THEM ALL DOWN SOLID, & THEN PUT THE INNERS IN. FIRST I PUT IN THE BOLT WITH THE BIG WASHER (INNER TO CAB)& THE TWO BOLTS IN THE VERY TOP OF THE INNER (INNER TO OUTER)LOOSELY & I USE A COUPLE OF ALLS TO HELP LINE UP THE HOLES. I'VE DONE DOZENS THIS WAY & IF SOMEONE CAN SHOW ME AN EAZIER WAY, I SURE WOULD BE HAPPY TO GIVE IT A TRY.

We're putting the inner fenders on last because we want to align and bolt down the fenders, hood, and doors before painting (we did all the edge painting with them removed). That way we don't mess up the new paint job trying to get everything to align. With the inners removed, we can re-install the trim/emblems on the outer fenders, which is dang near impossible with the inner fenders installed.

I sprayed my edges too but the point of installing the inners to the outers ahead of time is to avoid scratching them all up. (especially on mine as I did the inners body color) Believe me, it was hard enough not scratching them up on the ground let alone trying to hold them up in place and start the bolts that way.
As for the emblems, im going with the barrel clips so I can just push the emblem on from the outside after it's painted. I suppose you could do this many different ways but it worked good for me. ------------------ 63 Impala*66 Chevelle SS*69 Chevelle*69 C10 Stepside*71 Cheyenne 20*72 Chevelle Parts for sale: http://www.angelfire.com/trek/mr409/items4sale.html
