Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

on my truck I bought the drop spindles and drop coils. disc brakes also. with the 17 inch rims I was super low. to change the height I bought some 20's. It raised it up a little bit. in the rear end I also put some drop coils in the rear. tire rubbing is an issue on the roadways. I will post with this set up and then what I did to make it all better.. after I did the dropping...

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

I wish the front of mine was that low. You may want to go a bit smaller with your front tires though. How did the frame shortening go with the cab on it? Not that I may have that mod planned for my trucks future or anything.

It was not a job for the faint of heart. Hard part was making it square again. EVERYTHING moves! If i were to do it again, Id take the cab off.

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

My truck sits at exactly the same height up front with 235/75-15s. I have zero rub issues- but(there's always a but) I am running the 7" wide van rallies(look just like the truck rallies- but narrower) up front. This pulls the tires in a little and keeps them from rubbing the fenders.

If you were to use a shorter tire, you would start getting the lower control arms closer to the ground- which if you look under there- does not need to happen.

You've got the perfect height right now, tuckin' just a little tire, you just need to swap to a wheel with a little less width and more backspacing. There is also a 6.5" wide van rally found on some of the late '80s fullsize vans.

Good luck with your project.

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

toss the bed on there so you get an idea of the whole picture.
I think it looks bad ass myself.
I say finish the truck up... whats the worst that can happen, you have to split a ball joint and slip another spring in there... the same that you'd have to do now.
So give it a whirl and see what you think.

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

The frame is cut to a shortbed and the bed is still a longbed...so he cant just toss it on

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

I may go with a van front ralley wheel. I hope to have the floor cut and new short box sides on the bed this week. Hope anyway. Thanks for all the compliments on my truck. The green is going and black is comming. If it blocks out ok Ill go base/clear. If it wants to try and kick my a$$ while blocking, it will go "hot rod black"

I will never understand why people chop tops. I understand raking a top - that looks classy when it flows with the body lines better than stock. But ugh, that is friggin awful!

To each his own. I know dudes who really love porkers for women (chubby chasers) so I guess everyone has their own thing.

The van rallies also don't have as deep backspacing so the ywill pull the tire into the wheel well a little more. I think once you get a bed on it and maybe drop the front tire size a bit, you will find that it sits just fine. I think you maybe just are getting a distorted view since it doesn't have the bed on it. It makes it look out of proportion. I think you did just fine personally.

Re: I possibly lowered it TOO MUCH!

You could bag it and drive it any height you want. You can never lower one too much. I am still trying to get mine lower w/out chopping the top. A chopped top on a 67-72 chevy truck really is an eye sore!!!!!! IMO

I have to agree 110% on that. There are just some body mods a 67-72 truck dont need in my opinion and a chopped top is one of them.
