A couple of "what is it's"
Im replacing the underdash wiring harness in my 87 CC Dually, this is my second time this week doing this as the first harness I had finished installing and was ready to start testing, and the engine compartment side of the wiring harness was a different style .. it's a good thing I bought two of them, one from a forum member here ... anyways, I took photos of everything that I thought would be tuff to remember, but this following item, im stuck on .... what is it and where's it go ?
Secondly, there's this wire comming off the back of the dash cluster, it ran down to the ashtray area, but was not hooked to anything, could it be like a fiber optic for the ashtray? |

Re: A couple of "what is it's"
ok first thing is the computer for ur spark on the distributor (going to need it if ur installing factory stuff again). (also it goes under the dash near the glove box.) and the cable on ur instro panel is for ur ash tray its a light cable (light runs through the cord and to the ash tray so u can see were to put ur cigarette.) its kinda like fiberoptics. (the cable goes into a little white clip near ashtray )Hope this helps
if u need photos i can get them i have an 86 same stuff for the most part

this wire come out of the stearing collum, it's balck in color, flat with two leads .... Next set is are these two connectors, I think the 3-wire one is factory radio but the pink and purple one ? there are no "loose" connectors left over .. Last edited by rickyrqacer; 03-11-2008 at 03:51 AM. |

Re: A couple of "what is it's"
Top wire is cruise control.
Bottom black connector is the radio. I don't know the other one off the top of my head.

Re: A couple of "what is it's"
Thanks CK, I did look at Classic Parts and the Cruise Control wire end matches, by chance, do you know where it plugs into? I see nothing in that area that it could go to ...
as the black connector, your right on fopr the radio, thats where I'll hook my stereo to ... the other, maybe some day it's need will show up ... |

Re: A couple of "what is it's"
The black box in the very first pic has nothing to do with the spark for the distributor..........It's the micro processor for the cruise control.
