Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Shiny paint is nice, but sure isn't necessary to enjoy these trucks! I enjoy my fairly rough 70 K5 just as much as my 69 K20, plus, I don't have to worry about scratching the K5. Seeings how I can't get 15 feet from my K20 without scratching it, that means a lot to me!

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Your truck is my trucks hero. What other options does it have? Cheyenne trim on a custom camper? Is that a factory option I dont know about? I am sure there are a bunch I dont know about.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
It`s a CustomDeluxe with the "Highlander" promotional package and CustomCamper option. The Highlander pkg included Cheyenne woodgrain lower belt mouldings. It`s not supposed to have the woodgrain tailgate trim. The previous owner put it on and I replaced it with a better one.Underneath the "Chevrolet" lettering is blue. The CustomDeluxes had the chrome along the bottom of the gate (missing) instead of the woodgrain band.It has the Cheyenne side markers, too. No carpet came in this level Highlander, either.
The CustomCamper option could be had with any level truck. Most base trucks got the CustomCamper/20 nameplate (a seperate option) in place of Custom/20 or it would be shown in Script on the door like mine.I had a CheyenneSuper CustomCamper K/20 that I had to sell last summer. You can see about all the options except the manual throttle.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
I'm being serious Tim! I like that truck, it would pull a car trailer better than the shortbed would. Maybe we could write the "pro's and con's" of our trucks, send them to eachother and think it through.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Dang Jim,now I have to think.
Ryan,I was busy yesterday.I`d like to check that one out.It looks rough, but that`s the original paint. We can get a good idea of condition from pictures shown. It seems worth what the guy`s hoping to get from it.It is what it is,and once restored would make a pretty nice truck.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Hey Tim, I like your truck alot and had a couple ?'s about it. Does your vin/spid verify this one as being an original K truck, or was this body transplanted at some point in time? I have had several 72 C/10 & 20 highlanders over the years (still have two of them) and no matter what color they were, they all had black carpet and no wg tailgate panel, was this a K series only deal or possibly one that was custom ordered? Mel

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Hey Mel,Actually this truck is a body swap. It`s all`72,and the body/trim is original to the body. You ask some good questions.I know there were three levels of Highlanders,A,B,and C.I thought carpet didn`t come in the lower level. But I have a brochure and it says carpet. The p.o. must have used the mat from the 4wd truck. There was carpet on top of the mat when I got the truck, but it had mold from something spilling on it so I threw it out.It had this good mat under it,so I left it like that.I thought all Highlanders had woodgrain lower beltline...being the exception to the rule. But,the brochure only mentions upper trim...period.I`d swear we`ve had discussions here on Highlanders having w/g moulding. Now,I`m not so sure.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
Mel, I thought you said that was a 1971 thing? I sure do remember it, I just went sideways when I saw your hand throttle. I didn't think I could have any more options on my speedwanrnig tach dash with vac. gauge. Thats the next option I am looking for. Good to see you back on the board. I think you have alot to add to the board.

I don`t think you`d have a problem with the VIN.That`s how mine is.I think whoever inspects the truck will just go by the cab VIN.I`ve never seen a guy check the frame.I don`t think the DMVs ever knew the differences in the 2wd and 4wd VINs.The title doesn`t specify 4wd and there`s nothing to keep a guy from adding the 4wd drivetrain to a 2wd truck, like the companies that convert vans or the old NAPCOs.

Re: K/20 Highlander Pics
thanks, thats kinda what i was thinking like you stated the title doesnt say 2 or 4wd, iv sold a 69 a few years back and never had a problem and of course i told the fellow what we had did to the truck , he was fine wih it, but more and more you hear about people buying cars and trucks even after looking them over and hearing from the owner the details, then later down the road they wanna gripe about it,well anyways thanks for the info.
