best gears
what would be the best rear gears to install to replace the 4.11 in the ole 62?
looking for something to make it a better hiway cruiser. and where is the best place to buy? |

I replaced my 3.73 with a posi unit with 3.42 for the same reason (400TH trans) - also replaced all the rear end bearings and seals (those are pricey).
Haven't had it on the road yet (still in pieces in the garage). Check out a company called Drive Line Service on eBay - in Las Vegas (probably better deals on eBay but their website is www.drivetrain.com); they're cheaper than most I found online and none of the good local parts stores even sell replacement ring & pinion. If you have a GMT55 rear end you only have one option. That is a 3.38. I just put one in my 60 from Randys:
